Ayami Shunka • あやみ旬果

Ayami Shunka is the consumate J-IDOL. She is one of the most prolific Japanese actress/models in the business with one of the largest bodies of work by far. I think that will become pretty apparent given the size of her archive. She is rival But there is more to Ayami than acting and modeling career. She is also a talented singer/songwriter and a gifted musician in her own right. The model, actress, singer, composer has earned her mark as an iconic Japanese export with a portfolio to match. She is probably the most multi-dimensional of all the girls we've featured.

The Deets

Ayami Shunka, AKA Shun-Sama, hailing from Tokyo, Japan, is also widely regarded as the "five fingered beauty", owing to her wide array of musical skills. Before she attained idol status in Japan, she debuted in 2012 as a lingerie model and worked her way up to becoming a mainstream actress. She won a plethora of awards along the way, becoming the top model/actress in Japan in 2013.

In her years as a model, she has appeared on a number of Japanese publications and studios, including PINKEY, Prestige, Mines and SEXY-J. However, she is probably best known for her stint with GRAPHIS, which has produced, in my opinion, some of the very best work in her portfolio. It is for GRAPHIS that she has won the most number of awards as you will see from her archive linked at right.

Alas, all good things must come to an end. This was no different for Ayami. On March 31, 2019, she announced her retirement as an actress, complete with a final photo exhibit for all her fans. She finally exited the industry on October 8, 2021 after completing her contract with Mines.

Since her retirement, she's used her time to focus on her music. What many fans may be surprised to realize is that she is formally trained in piano and guitar. In fact, she was once a member of the Ebisu Muscats (like Anri Okita) but now focuses on a solo music career. You can still find her active on twitter and instagram (see links on the right).
