Rio Hamasaki hails from the Saitama Prefecture in Japan. Her first job was working as a check out clerk at a gas station. That lasted for about six months before she decided to join the industry in 2006 as a model at age 18. She is widely known for her rather impressive H-cup endowment that would go on to help her become one of the most photographed models from Japan. She is also well known for her reclusive personality. She is one of the few models in the industry (like Julia Kyoka) that does not maintain direct contact with her fan base. In fact, she started modeling on her personal blog for a while, becoming instantly famous even with western fans. After receiving an overwhelming amount of attention and commentary, she stopped posting to her blog in 2014. After disappearing for about a year, she reappeared on Facebook in 2015, again posting content as a model. Once again, she discontinued her activities on Facebook only a year later, switching her profile to private. Despite her reticence, Rio has a massive body of work, spanning some 1300 films and a great deal of modeling work. She has appeared in films produced by SOD, Moodyz, Crystal-Eizou, Wanz Factory and Dogma. Even though she announced her retirement in a magazine interview in 2011, it appears that she has been mulling a return since her social media appearance (and subsequent disappearance) between 2014 and 2016. Rio has completely retired from the scene now - and that includes all social media presence. The only thing that remains are several fan accounts on twitter and instagram - and an archive link of her work on the right, ofcourse. |
